What Must A Mentor-Protégé Agreement Include?

  1. Must be in writing
  2. Must include an assessment of the Protégé’s needs
  3. Must include a description of the specific assistance that the Mentor will provide to address those needs
  4. Must be for at least one year
  5. Must include a provision that either party can terminate with 30 days advance notice to the other party and the Office of Supplier Diversity

Who Approves A Mentor-Protégé Agreement And How Is It Approved?

  1. The Agreement is submitted to the Office of Supplier Diversity located in the Department of Management Services
  2. The Office of Supplier Diversity Program Coordinator recommends approval or disapproval of the Agreement
  3. The Director for Office of Supplier Diversity approves or disapproves the Agreement.

When Will The Office of Supplier Diversity Not Approve The Mentor-Protégé Agreement?

  1. If the assistance to be provided is Not sufficient to promote any real gains to the Protégé
  2. If the Agreement is Just a mechanism to enable a major corporation to receive state contracts

How Will The Office of Supplier Diversity Annually Evaluate A Mentor-Protégé Relationship?

  1. A narrative describing Mentor’s success in assisting Protégé
  2. All technical and/or Management Assistance provided by Mentor
  3. All loans received from, or equity investments made by the Mentor
  4. All subcontracts awarded by the Mentor, and the value of each of subcontract

If continuation of the Agreement is recommended, then the Program Coordinator will forward its recommendation to the Office of Supplier Diversity Director for final approval
