Requirements

Mentor Requirements

  • Must be an established corporation generating more that $1 million in annual revenues, employ more than 50 people and have an office in the State of Florida,
  • Senior level officer must be willing to sign 12-month agreement,
  • Must designate a company representative to commit to a 12-month timeline,
  • Must have the resources to commit to the developmental needs of the Protégé, as determined by a diagnostic evaluation of the assigned Protégé,
  • Must understand that equal access for emerging minority, women, and service-disabled veteran businesses makes good sense and that partnerships with emerging businesses will enable growth for larger organizations

In addition, it must demonstrate the following:

  • That it enjoys favorable financial health, including profitability for at least the last two years,
  • That it is a state contractor in good standing, and
  • That it can provide valuable support to a protégé through lessons learned and practical experience gained from state term contracts, through its general knowledge of government contracting.

Protégé Requirements

  • Must be a certified minority-, woman-, and/or service-disabled veteran-owned business,
  • Must designate a company representative to commit to an one-year timeline,
  • Senior level officer must be willing to sign one-year agreement,
  • Must be willing to complete a diagnostic evaluation of the company in order to assess the most critical areas to concentrate for success, and to identify enhancement
  • Must have a positive attitude and be receptive to information exchange with the assigned Mentor
  • Must be in good standing in the minority, women, and service-disabled veteran business enterprise certification program and be current with all reporting requirements
