Last week, Torey Alston, the Director for the Office of Supplier Diversity, attended several key meetings. On Monday, Alston attended the national convening of Supplier Diversity State Directors in Kansas City, Missouri. The event was hosted by the Insight Center for Community Economic Development. The OSD Director served on a panel discussion and shared best practices on seeking buy-in from the Governor's Office, legislature, and state agencies. Alston shared best practices in Florida and mentioned strong diversity initiatives in the state. On Wednesday, Alston met with Robert Nixon, Regional Director for the Florida A&M University Small Business Development Center. During the meeting, both leaders discussed potential strategic partnership agreements and collaboration for future initiatives. On Thursday, Alston met with Robert Seniors, Chief Information Officer and Vice-President for Florida A&M University.
