One-on-One Sessions
The Office of Supplier Diversity wants every participant to take full advantage of the 2009 MatchMaker Conference and Trade Show. Once again, the Office of Supplier Diversity will provide the One-On-One appointments with state agency purchasing officials for minority, women, and service-disabled veteran business enterprises. Each state purchasing official will have 10 minute time slots available throughout the day to educate vendors about their products and services.
These appointments provide vendors with the means to make personal contact with purchasing officials, to ask questions and obtain valuable information from these representatives without having to travel statewide.
Tips for making your One-On-One appointment more successful:
- Be on time for your appointment. Arrive early, if possible, in case there is a cancellation and an earlier appointment is availiable.
- Print your appointment schedule and bring it with you to the One-on-One session.
- Be sure to bring your business cards and any informational material you have about your products and services.
- Research and familiarize yourself with the agency prior to your scheduled appointment. To review the type of services and commodities that an agency purchases select the following link: Provide informational material (or a business portfolio) about your products and/or services for purchasing.
- Share any special licenses, certifications or designations during your appointments to help put your business above the rest.
- Identify areas in which your business saves the government money or offers the best savings value.
- Be Brief. Be Targeted. Be Persuasive. Write a profile of your company that acts as your calling card, a one to two page document that contains all the points you want to make in a logical sequence during your 10-minute session.
- And most importantly, bring a friendly face and a great attitude! Let the procurement official know that you are the best business for the job.
The Office of Supplier Diversity will also offer minority, women, and service-disabled veteran business enterprises interested in becoming state certified, the opportunity to speak with a Certification Officer at this year's MatchMaker. You will need to bring copies of the required documentation as specified in this link, Supporting Documentation to receive the assistance necessary in becoming certified
Please note, if ALL required documentation is not presented to the Certification Officer, you will be provided written feedback concerning the documents needed to be sent via U.S. mail. If you have any questions, contact the Office of Supplier Diversity at (850) 487-0915.
