2007

The 2007 MatchMaker Conference and Trade Fair was an overwhelming success and stood strong as Florida's signature event for minority/women business entrepreneurs. MatchMaker 2007 provided a forum for minority businesses, state purchasing officers and private industry to share ideas and develop business partnerships.

Highlights and accomplishments of the 2007 MatchMaker Conference and Trade Fair included:

  • Governor Charlie Crist gave the keynote address at the Governor's Breakfast as the official opening ceremony for the event.
  • Governor Charlie Crist also participated in a roundtable discussion with business owners and 2007 MatchMaker Partners.
  • Secretary Linda H. South of the Department of Management Services and Florida Public Service Commissioner Matthew Carter both served as dynamic keynote speakers.
  • Attendance of over 1,500 minority and women business owners, local residents, and other community-based organizations.
  • One hundred twenty-eight (128) exhibitors/booths on the trade fair floor.
  • Over 2,500 One-on-One appointments conducted during the trade fair, representing more than 60 entities including state agencies, private sector corporations, city and county government, water management districts, hospital districts, and local school districts.
  • The participation of the Florida Legislative Black Caucus, Florida Association of Minority Business Enterprise Officials, and the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce.
  • Ribbon-cutting ceremony with dignitaries including Tallahassee Mayor John Marks, State Representative Joe Gibbons, and Florida Public Service Commissioner Matthew Carter.
