Public Employee Appreciation Week and State Employee Recognition Day
Any free government certainly needs a vast corps of well-trained, dedicated, intelligent, long service people who can take care of all the intricate jobs of operating the many and manifold activities that governments these days are compelled to carry on.
— DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
Let the public service be a proud and lively career. And let every man and woman who works in any area of our national government, in any branch, at any level, be able to say with pride and with honor in future years: ‘I served the United States government in that hour of our nation’s need.’
— JOHN F. KENNEDY
Welcome to the Public Service Recognition Week and State Employee Recognition Day Web site for the State of Florida! Since 1985, these are nationally recognized events providing an opportunity to express appreciation to public service employees who contribute significantly to the efficient and effective operation of the State of Florida. This year, Public Service Recognition Week runs from May 5 - 11, and State Employee Recognition Day takes place May 7.
Public employees improve the quality of life for their fellow Floridians through their efforts in many fields including education, emergency management, public safety, transportation, natural resources, health and national defense.
