Benefit Programs

As Career Service, Selected Exempt Service, or Senior Management Service employees, we receive a generous benefit package which includes:

Adoption Benefits - A program that provides any state employee who is paid from regular salary appropriations and who adopts a special-needs child or a non-special need child, whose permanent custody has been awarded to the Department of Children and Families or to a Florida-licensed child placing agency, may be eligible to receive a monetary benefit. Deferred Compensation - This website provides information on the tax deferred "employee contribution" investment program available to state employees.
 
Direct Deposit - Salary and retirement payments are directly deposited into your designated bank, savings and loan association, or credit unions via Electronic Funds Transfer.
 
Employee Assistance Programs- The EAP program, provided by Horizon Health, offers confidential, professional counseling services, 24 hours a day, and at no cost to state employees and their family members.
 
Florida Retirement System - This website contains information about state retirement systems in Florida.
  State of Florida Investment Plan- This website offers information on the state's defined contribution retirement plan.

Florida Tuition Waiver Program - This program allows state employees to enroll for up to 6 credit hours of courses per term at a state university or community colleges, on a space-available basis.
 
Holidays - State employees are granted 10 paid holidays per year.
 
Leave - Each employee is eligible for leave benefits which include, but are not limited to, annual, sick, administrative, family medical, educational, disability and military leave.
 
Mentoring Program - Each employee may be granted up to one hour of administrative leave per week, not to exceed five hours per calendar month, to participate in school or community voluntary activities.
