Third-Party Subscribers

The Department of Management Services Communication Information Technology Services (EITS) encourages Local, State and Federal public safety entities to become third-party subscribers to the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS). Third-party users can join a state-of-the-market statewide system with minimum capital investment and at a fraction of the cost of installing a new local system. Third-party subscribers can also join the system as interoperability users and use SLERS as an auxiliary system for direct communications with other SLERS users on interagency and inter-local talk groups.

To become a SLERS user, interested parties should contact M/A-COM's Director of Florida Sales (Chuck Lang, 850-422-3377, chuck.lang@tycoelectronics.com) to discuss communications needs and to request a proposal developed by M/A-COM. The proposal and third-party application are then reviewed and processed by the Department of Management Services and Joint Task Force Board. The administrative rule governing this process is Chapter 60DD-8, Florida Administrative Code.

As of March 2007, there are nine approved SLERS third-party subscribers:

  • Baker County Sheriff's Office
  • Broward County Emergency Management Agency (interoperability)
  • CSX Railroad Police
  • Franklin County Sheriff's Office
  • Glades County Sheriff's Office
  • Gulf County's Sheriff's Office, Emergency Medical Service and Port St. Joe Police Department
  • Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (interoperability)
  • Okaloosa County
  • Social Security Administration's Office of Investigations in Florida
  • Sumter County Sheriff's Office (interoperability)
  • Union County

The State term contract for SLERS incorporates M/A-COM's entire product catalog at a discount of no less than 25%. This provides a full range of public safety radio solution options to the State and Eligible Users.
