Becoming a Member of the Florida IO Network: Frequently Asked Questions
Frequent Questions & Answers
-
What are my dispatch center's responsibilities in the next year during development of the IO network?
The CITS is the primary coordinator with Motorola for the development of the network. The local dispatch centers will need to:
- Commit to the project (requesting a site walk and signing subgrant agreement).
- Appoint a local single point of contact for project coordination.
- Facilitate the project with timely responses to deadlines.
- Budget for any enhancements needed beyond the minimum configuration provided by the Federal grant.
- Provide adequate physical space for the installation and maintenance of the system, adequate air conditioning and other environmental conditions, adequate electrical power outlets, and adequate telephone or communications lines.
- Provide access to the dispatch center for Motorola and CITS staff as necessary to conduct site surveys, prepare the facility, install and test the system.
- Commit staff to the training provided (with associated local travel within your county or an adjacent one).
- Participate in any testing regarding the interface to your existing radio systems.
- Use the system per operational agreements (to be developed through the Regional Domestic Security Task Forces).
The facility requirements are that the dispatch centers will:
- Provide space for:
- Dispatch console (computer with 15" flat panel monitor);
- Network equipment (one seven-foot 19" equipment rack or twelve inches of existing vertical rack space) and associated cabling, and space for cable routing, including wall penetration and conduit as needed ? this should be in a secure room.
- Provide interior building cable trays and wire supports.
- Provide dedicated 20Amp AC outlets (simplex with ground) for each major piece of equipment within six feet of its location, including associated electrical service, wiring (conduits, circuit breakers, etc.), and surge protection.
- Provide adequate HVAC.
- Provide grounding.
The facility requirements should be satisfied with your existing radio and computer systems environments. If your facility cannot provide the environment specified for the technical equipment, installation may still be possible but the warranty and service provisions of the contract may be voided.
