Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
The Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) offers high speed Ethernet and ATM capabilities for interagency communications in and around the City of Tallahassee.
Multicast - Supports video and audio streaming while minimizing the network impact. Multicast can be used to feed video streams to many users at once, while requiring only the bandwidth necessary for a single stream. This service is currently in development stages and can be obtained for a limited time at no cost.
Quality of Service (QoS) – Supports Voice over IP and Video Conferencing. By providing QoS services through the MAN and RTS, an end-to-end solution can be developed to connect sites over the entire state. For more information, you may click into the QoS Information page.
MAN Encryption Service Option – Designed to provide LAN-to-LAN encrypted IP connectivity for eligible Tallahassee users requiring secure IP communications from their applicable LAN networks or remote sites accessible through the Internet.
