Red Flags of Collusion Training

Governor Crist’s Office of Economic Recovery and Office of the Chief Inspector General in cooperation with The United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division and The Florida Attorney General's Office Antitrust Division will offer training for Procurement and Contracting/Grant Employees, Inspectors General Auditors and Investigators, and other interested government officials on techniques for identifying the "red flags of collusion" to train these government employees on indicators of fraud. This is important to ensure appropriate oversight of the taxpayer’s dollars. These seminars will be at no cost to the attendees. Each seminar will be approximately 2 hours in length.

The Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice has launched this Recovery Initiative aimed at training government officials and contractors to recognize and report efforts by parties who unlawfully profit from the stimulus projects that will be awarded as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Training Speakers:

Governor Crist’s Florida Office of Economic Recovery

The Florida Office of Economic Recovery was established in March 2009 to manage the State’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 activities and ensure Florida receives its fair share of the federal stimulus dollars and then infuses the funding into Florida’s economy as quickly and efficiently as possible. FlaRecovery.com is Florida’s ARRA web site. More

Chief Inspector General for Governor Charlie Crist

Governor Crist appointed Melinda Miguel to serve as the Chief Inspector General in January 2007. The Chief Inspector General has taken a proactive role with the Florida Inspector General community to ensure appropriate oversight of the ARRA funding.

The United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will provide over $500 billion of funding for programs to jumpstart the U.S. economy, save and create jobs, and invest in the country's future. The potential risk of collusion and fraud increases dramatically when large blocks of funds, such as those associated with the Recovery Act, are quickly disbursed. More

Attorney General's Office Antitrust Division

The Antitrust Division of the Attorney General’s Office was established in 1976. Since its inception, the Section has recovered approximately $240 million on behalf of Florida’s citizens and taxpayers and state and local public entities within Florida. More
