Q. Do I have to be a dealer to attend auctions ?
A. No, sale is open to the general public and dealers.

Q. Is it possible to buy a late model car or truck for $200.00 ?
A. No, vehicles are generally sold around the NADA wholesale value, depending on overall condition and mileage.

Q. What about confiscated vehicles ?
A. A limited number of confiscated vehicles and watercraft are sold each year. Confiscated vehicles are sold with and in the same manner as state vehicles.

Q. How many people usually attend auctions ?
A. Approximately 500 people register to bid at each auction.

Q. How many vehicles are sold in an auction ?
A. Between 250 and 425

Q. Where are the auctions held ?
A. All auctions are held at Tampa Machinery Auction, 11720 HWY 301 North, Thonotosassa, FL 33592 on the second Saturday of each month.

Q. Is there a charge to register as a bidder or to make a purchase?
A. No.

Q. What about sales tax ?
A. Sales tax will be collected at the time of sale by the State's contracted auctioneer.

Q. Can I get on a mailing list for upcoming auctions ?
A. No, the State's contracted auctioneer maintains a website (tmauction.com) that lists all auction dates and information.

Q. Can I test drive the vehicle?
A. No, the auctioneer will start a vehicle, but not drive it.

Q. Do I have to repaint a marked Law Enforcement vehicle ?
A. Only the Florida Highway Patrol vehicles must be repainted.

Q. Do I have to remove official decals ?
A. Yes!

Q. Do I get a title to a vehicle at the sale site, or is it mailed later ?
A. No, all titles will be sent via US Mail by the Florida DMV to the new registered owner.

Q. How do I find out what is available at the sale?
A. You may check the auction inventory at tmauction.com, the website for the State's auctioneer, Tampa Machinery Auction, Inc.
