Construction Manager Selection Process

The Department's Project Manager and the owner establish the selection committee for the Construction Manager. The committee proceeds in accordance with Florida Statutes and Department of Management Services established procedures. The selection is based on qualifications and experience. The Project Manager leads the selection committee through the selection process to result in selecting the best private sector firm to perform the project's requirements.

Construction Manager Contracting Process

The Project Manager coordinates with the Contracts Administrator, client representative, and a number of the first ranked Construction Management firms to establish a date to negotiate.
A letter requesting staffing, bonding, insurance, overhead and profit information is sent to the Construction Manager (from Building Construction) before the negotiation date. This up front preparation and exchange of information shortens the negotiations period, thus the construction process can begin sooner and reduce the cost of the project.
