Living Green Tip – Drop Plastic Wrap Like a Hot Potato!
Instead, pick up a 2Pac of aluminum foil, which is safer for you and the planet. Hip hop hooray! You can buy 100 percent recycled aluminum foil and recycle it in most areas, unlike plastic wrap and waxed paper, which are made from petroleum and may contain carcinogenic PVC.
Reynolds Recycled Aluminum Foil - just like the conventional stuff but in 100 percent recycled form. Available at most supermarkets ($4/50 square feet).
Earth911 - type in aluminum foil and your zip to find out if you can recycle it locally (note: while it usually doesn't have to be spotless, clean big chunks of food off of it before putting it in the bin).
If you can't avoid plastic wrap or waxed paper, check out eco-friendlier, nonpetroleum versions, such as biodegradable Biofilm wrap ($50/110 square feet) or a Natural Value Waxed Paper ($3/75 square feet).
