TALLAHASSEE - Florida Department of Management Services Secretary Linda H. South today received one of only seven Awards for Excellence in Loss Prevention given by the Interagency Advisory Council on Loss Prevention. The award is sponsored by the Division of Risk Management under CFO Alex Sink.
"As public servants, the Department of Management Services is committed to serving the people of Florida by providing safe work spaces so our service can continue to meet and exceed taxpayers' expectations," said Secretary South. "I am proud of our team and their commitment to safety and loss prevention."
The council acknowledged South's efforts to make safety a priority in the agency. Last year, Governor Charlie Crist appointed South to chair the Florida Public Task Force on Workplace Safety. The 2008 Legislature established this task force to develop findings and issue recommendations on innovative ways the state can ensure that Florida government, at all levels, and complies with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards.
