TALLAHASSEE - The Department of Management Services announces the dates for this year's Open Enrollment period which runs from September 22 - October 17 and enables more than 440,000 employees, retirees and their dependents to add or change their health insurance benefits options.
"Having the most appropriate health insurance coverage for ourselves and our loved ones is one of the most important decisions we make each year," said Governor Charlie Crist. "I encourage all of our valuable state employees and retirees to take advantage of this opportunity and make the most out of the benefits available to them."
The Division of State Group Insurance administers Open Enrollment each year and features updates for 2009 for eligible employees and retirees to consider, including:
- A pre-tax vision option is available
- Coverage is available for eligible dependants up to age 30
All employees are encouraged to review their current plans carefully and make changes that benefit them the most. DSGI also encourages employees and retirees to visit People First and update their password and contact information to ensure it's accurate. Any changes made during Open Enrollment take effect January 1, 2009.
