FINANCIAL-DAVIS PRODUCTIVITY AWARDS
~Department of Management Services employees save taxpayers millions~

TALLAHASSEE - Florida Department of Management Services Secretary Linda H. South today announced that the agency received 21 Prudential Financial-Davis Productivity Awards. The program honors public employees whose innovation and productivity save taxpayers money. The initiative is chaired by Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp and co-sponsored by Florida TaxWatch, The Florida Council of 100 and the State of Florida.

"The best way to save state resources is by improving and streamlining the way we serve our customers without sacrificing quality," said Secretary South. "I am proud of the Department of Management Services team for their commitment to innovation and service."

The 2007 awards competition attracted 503 nominations for innovation and productivity improvements worth $332 million in cost savings, cost avoidances and increased revenue for state government. Since 1989, award winners have produced more than $5.3 billion worth of added value. The 21 awards will be given at formal award ceremonies and luncheons statewide during June.

Department of Management Services teams and individuals honored:

Laticia Nazario-Braddock for formulating the federal subsidy collection process.
David A. Bennett for developing a state contract for fuel card services.
Robert Ferrell for redesigning the statewide radio frequency plan.
Barbara Carter for providing outstanding customer service to agency customers.
Mark D. Lovell for developing a cost-effective way to purchase ammunition and equipment.
Glen Tedcastle for implementing the cell tower program.
Sally Howard for recommending changes that increased investment earnings.
Suzetta Furlong for creating and producing People First training videos.
The 2005 HR Conference Planning Team for organizing a two-day, statewide conference within budget .
The Preferred Provider Procurement Team for acquiring preferred provider organization contracts.
The Group Health Insurance Redesign Task Force for redesigning the State Health Group Insurance Program.
The Lake City Privatize Correctional Re-Bid Team for reducing daily rates at the Lake City Correctional Facility.
The Florida Interoperability Network Team for developing a statewide first responder communications system.
The State Safety Public Radio Services Team for developing a statewide law enforcement radio system.
The State Purchasing Information Technology Team for enhancing the purchasing and state contract Web portal.
The MyFloridaNet Sourcing Team for securing the new statewide data network MyFloridaNet.
The Enrollment and Contributions Election Notification Team for improving the way retirement members make their elections.
The Retired Payroll Insurance Deduction Team for streamlining insurance deduction processing and report retrievals.
The Retirement/Shared Resource Center: Co-Location Team for increasing security by moving the critical information technology equipment to a safer location.
The People First Change Review Board for streamlining and prioritizing People First process and enhancements.
The Clearinghouse on Disability Information Staff for creating a tracking system for disability-related legislation.
