Agency Administration
DMS Administration provides centralized administrative service to the department and its 1,600 employees through its service bureaus and offices.
The Business of Government
The Department of Management Services (DMS) is the business arm of Florida government. In 1993 the Department of Administration and Department of General Services merged to form the Department of Management Services. This combined agency was formed to improve services and reduce administrative overhead.
As a customer service based agency, the Department of Management Services is home of the Florida Retirement System and the Division of State Group Insurance. All state owned facilities are managed by the DMS facilities team. The Division of Fleet Management and Federal Property Assistance provides management, purchase, and disposal of aircraft, motor vehicles, watercraft, and other related equipment. The Department houses the Office of Supplier Diversity (OSD) whose function is to improve business and economic opportunities for Florida's women-owned and minority-owned businesses.
By overseeing the state's major technology reforms, People First was created to provide world-class tools and services for State employees. The Department also implemented MyFloridaMarketPlace, the new web-based procurement system.
